On April 16, 2019, Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed SB19-181 into law, which will bring about sweeping oil and gas reforms in Colorado. The law changes the statutory purpose of the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, overhauls the makeup of the Commission by increasing the number of environmental experts and decreasing industry experts, allows cities and counties to use their planning and land use powers to regulate oil and gas development and siting, and enacts new environmental protections.
This live webinar is for oil and gas attorneys, landmen, government employees and officials, and others who desire to know more about the changes in law. Our panel of presenters includes Matt Lepore, the former Director of the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, Phil Barber, an attorney who represents Colorado local governments on oil and gas regulatory matters, and Liz Titus, a partner at Hogan Lovells who represents oil and gas companies. The panel will examine the specific changes to Colorado’s Oil and Gas Conservation Act, the regulatory rulemakings that will be required to implement the changes, how the changes are expected to affect the industry in Colorado in the short and longer terms, the impacts for local governments, and how local governments might respond.
