EDUARDO SIQUEIROS T., recently retired as a partner from the law firm of Hogan Lovells in Mexico City (previously Barrera, Siqueiros y Torres Landa), where he practiced law for approximately 40 years in commercial, joint ventures, investment, insurance and infrastructure law. He received his law degree from Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City and subsequently an LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School. He has been a professor of law at several law schools in Mexico, and frequent speaker in diverse fora in Mexico and abroad. He actively participates as arbitrator in domestic and international commercial disputes administered by ICC, ICDR, LCIA and other institutions, as well as investor-State disputes before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA). Eduardo is currently a governing board member and treasurer of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA).



GABRIELA ALVAREZ AVILA offers a rare depth of experience in international law and investment law, and has handled numerous disputes involving infrastructure projects, electricity, telecommunications and oil and gas. Ms. Alvarez Avila has acted as counsel for foreign states in investor-state arbitrations conducted under the Arbitration Rules of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). She has also acted as counsel and arbitrator in ICC arbitration commercial cases and as sole arbitrator in an arbitration conducted under the arbitration rules of the Centro de Arbitraje de México (CAM). She has also been designated by Mexico to the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators.


ELLIOT FRIEDMAN is a New York-based partner in our top-ranked international arbitration practice. He advises companies in commercial and investment treaty disputes around the world. He has particular expertise in the pharma, energy, construction and technology sectors and has handled arbitration proceedings before almost every major arbitral institution. Elliot also represents companies in transnational litigation in US courts, including the enforcement of arbitral awards.  Recently, he successfully represented BG Group in the first ever case concerning a bilateral investment treaty to be considered by the US Supreme Court.


RAFAEL VILLAR GAGLIARDI, a Partner of Demarest’s Litigation and Arbitration area, holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in Civil Law from PUC-SP. He was a visiting researcher at the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK) and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators – CIArb. Rafael concentrates his practice in litigation for large domestic and international companies, mainly in the Energy and Infrastructure segments. He is frequently listed in some of the most important local and international legal publications, such as LACCA Approved, Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500, Latin Lawyer 250, among others.
