The Equity and Inclusion Scholarship

The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law Equity and Inclusion Scholarship was established in 2020. Scholarships will be awarded to JD applicants annually who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latino or Latina, Asian-American, Pacific Islander, or other person of color. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have an interest in working in an area of natural resources or energy law, demonstrate a serious and diligent pursuit of academic achievement (but academic performance is not determinative), be enrolled full-time at an accredited law school (but need not be attending one of the Foundation’s “Constituent Law Schools”). In making awards, the Scholarships Committee will also consider leadership ability, year in law school, and financial need. LL.M. students are not eligible for this scholarship.

Criteria
All applications will be evaluated by the Foundation’s scholarship committees according to an established set of criteria that include:
• Interest in and commitment to working in an area of natural resources law
• Serious and diligent pursuit of academic achievement
• Leadership ability
• Year in law school
• Financial need

Scholarship Use
The scholarship must be used for tuition only or its equivalent and must be paid directly to the student’s law school.

Application Deadlines

The completed application and supporting documents must be submitted by February 28, 2024. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS AND APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AFTER THE DEADLINE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
