Virtually all energy and natural resource projects must address protected wildlife issues at some point during their development. For many projects, wildlife issues will be one of the most challenging aspects of the development process. The legal landscape regarding these issues is in constant flux, with frequent regulatory and policy changes under the Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, Federal Land Policy and Management Act, and Marine Mammal Protection Act.

This legal conference will provide useful information and analysis regarding the regulation of protected wildlife to professionals in the energy, mining, and, infrastructure industries; government regulatory agencies; conservation organizations; and academia. It combines a practical overview of relevant landscape law for those who are new to these areas with a deeper dive into more sophisticated topics for those who have been addressing wildlife issues for a while. The speakers will share their legal insights and practical experience with protected wildlife, with a particular focus on the intersection of wildlife and project development.

This program is being offered in-person only.
