The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (FNREL), the Institute for Energy Law (IEL), the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation (EMLF), and the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) are again co-sponsoring the live, in-person 40th Annual Oil and Gas Law Short Course in Westminster, Colorado, just outside Denver. This is the only course of its kind – a one-week comprehensive, immersive oil & gas course, taught by oil & gas law professors from schools throughout the nation along with a select few practitioners who are experts in their fields. This course focuses primarily on the principles of U.S. laws and state regulations. For in-depth treatment of international oil & gas, see our upcoming courses.

Topics covered include exploration and production operations; ownership, capture, and correlative rights; oil & gas leases; royalties; conveyancing; division orders; pooling and unitization; conservation regulation; local regulation; participation agreements; joint operating agreements; drilling contracts; marketing agreements; environmental regulation; ethics; and oil & gas taxation.

Join us in Colorado for this unique course – a comprehensive educational opportunity along with the chance to network with others in the field! You can also network with those attending the Foundation’s Short Course on Federal Oil & Gas Leasing, Development, and Operations, which is being held concurrently with this course.

This course is essential for attorneys, landmen, paralegals, government employees, and others who practice or work in the oil & gas industry or related fields. The course provides 31 hours of continuing legal education or AAPL credit, including 2 hours of ethics. The registration fee includes substantial course materials, coffee breaks, and a hosted reception. Course materials are made available exclusively for course registrants.

Hard copy course materials may be purchased for $95 and will be distributed at the Short Course. All registrants will receive electronic materials in advance included with their registration.

This program is only being offered in an in-person format. Your registration fee includes access to the electronic course materials.

This Short Course happens on an annual basis and is therefore not recorded.
