The $1 trillion bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, known as the “Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill,” signed in November 2021 is sweeping federal legislation to improve and modernize the United States’ infrastructure. Though touted as “roads and bridges” legislation, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill touches nearly element of domestic energy development and natural resources and reflects a shift in federal policy toward reducing net greenhouse gas emissions. In this virtual seminar, nine distinguished speakers will break down the 2800-page Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill and its provisions related to grid infrastructure and resilience, mining, permitting improvements, carbon capture and sequestration, conventional and renewable energy sources, and water infrastructure. This seminar will provide energy and natural resources lawyers and other professionals with the larger policy considerations surrounding these legislative changes, describe their practical implications, and identify potential permitting and funding opportunities for energy development.
