Fun things to do in Chandler and Phoenix:

Huhugam Heritage Center

This modern cultural center highlights the ancestral, historic, and current cultures of the Gila River Indian Community, made up of two tribes – the Akimel O’otham and the Pee Posh. Their mission is to ensure that the Akimel O’otham and Pee Posh cultures flourish for future generations. https://www.grichhc.org

Heard Museum

The tradition, culture, and history of 22 regional American Indian tribes converge in the Heard Museum’s immersive exhibits and authentic art shop. Through art and cultural objects, the museum’s ongoing exhibits tell the stories of native people of the Southwest. https://heard.org

The Phoenix Zoo

The Phoenix Zoo opened in 1962 and has grown to 125 acres of land, 2.5 miles of walking trails, and 1,200 animals. The Phoenix Zoo is Arizona’s largest collection of mammals, fish, invertebrates, birds, and reptiles and one of the most successful zoos in the United States.  https://www.phoenixzoo.org

Camelback Mountain

The panoramic view from the “hump” of this iconic landmark, named for its resemblance to a kneeling camel, is worth scaling its two tricky trails, Echo Canyon and Cholla.

Desert Botanical Garden

The winding paths of this 50-acre desert garden showcase a fantastic variety of arid plants, from towering saguaros to delicate blooms. https://dbg.org

Taliesin West

Tours of Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home, offer insight on how the masterful architect was inspired by the desert surroundings.
