COVID-19 Risk Acknowledgment, Waiver, and Release
When you register you must agree to the following:

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and its variants, all speakers and registrants must provide evidence that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 OR that they have received a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours before the start of the event, or they will not be allowed to enter and participate in the event. To ensure a smooth registration process, fully vaccinated speakers and registrants are strongly encouraged to email a PDF copy or photo of their vaccination card to info@fnrel.org with a reference to Young Professionals at least 10 days before the start of the program. Otherwise, they should bring their vaccination card or negative test to the event. In addition, the course sponsors will follow the health and safety practices mandated by the host hotel and by applicable federal, state, and local authorities. Those practices will be determined close to the date of the event and may become more or less strict between registration and the event. By registering for and attending this event, you: (1) acknowledge the risks associated with COVID-19 and its variants; (2) agree to comply with any applicable health and safety practices and precautions that may be mandated for the event (regardless of whether federal, state, or local laws mandate the use of such practices),; (3) agree to monitor your own health status and not attend the event if you are symptomatic in any way or believe you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 or its variants; and (4) waive and forever release and discharge the course sponsors and their present and former directors, officers, employees, agents, volunteers, and insurers from and against, any and all claims, demands, causes of action, liabilities, obligations, costs, expenses, and indemnities of every kind and nature, in law or in equity, known or unknown, fixed or contingent, arising out of or related to exposure to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 or its variants at or in connection with this event. For questions, contact Jaleen Edwards at jedwards@fnrel.org.

The 2nd Young Natural Resources and Energy Lawyers Institute was designed by The Foundation and its Young Professionals Committee specifically for natural resources, energy, and environmental lawyers at law firms, corporations, and government agencies who are in their first 10 years of practice. The institute focuses on issues and skills that are key to developing and growing substantive legal competencies, improving service to external and internal clients, and building and managing a successful career. The institute will include ample opportunities to network with other young lawyers, many of whom may someday be your future client, co-counsel, adversary, or represent your company.

The Institute will begin with a half-day of career and professional development topics followed by a half-day plenary session with topics on the intersection between the energy transition and mining, developments in public land law, and the basics of tribal sovereignty. On day two, attendees may choose a transactions break-out session with topics on joint operations, acquisitions and divestitures, and contract drafting, or a litigation break-out session with topics on depositions, written discovery, the complexities of big litigation cases, and working with in-house counsel on litigation. The break-out sessions will be followed by a hosted lunch with an ethics presentation on board service and conclude with a talk on incorporating renewable energy work into a natural resources practice.

Join us during this beautiful time of year in Colorado at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel, which recently completed a massive $80 million renovation. Hotel room rates at this four-star hotel on the iconic 16th Street Pedestrian Mall are significantly below market at only $219 per night.
