Charles Edgar “Chuck” Moran

In honor of Chuck's enduring commitment to the oil and gas industry, an annual scholarship has been established. This scholarship will be awarded to a student attending one of the Foundation's constituent law schools, with a preference for those who share Chuck's enthusiasm for pursuing a legal or professional career in oil and gas or energy law. Additionally, it is hoped that the scholarship may be awarded to a deserving applicant hailing from Chuck's beloved alma mater, The University of Tulsa College of Law.

Chuck's journey began in the heart of the Permian Basin, where he was born and raised. In 1992, he embarked on his career as a landman with Yates Petroleum Corporation in Artesia, New Mexico. Over the years, he found great fulfillment in the oil and gas industry, embracing the Yates Petroleum family, and later joining EOG Resources in Midland, Texas. Chuck's dedication extended to numerous organizations dedicated to advancing the oil and gas sector. In 2005, he assumed the role of President of the Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico, a testament to his leadership and vision. Throughout his career, he remained an enthusiastic member of the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association, continually contributing to its mission.

Chuck's support for the Foundation was unwavering. He was a familiar face at its programs and seminars, where his passion shone through in lively discussions with presenters and fellow attendees. He brought insightful perspectives to the industry's most pressing issues, sparking meaningful dialogues that left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of engaging with him.

In remembering Chuck Moran, we celebrate a life defined by dedication, passion, and an unwavering commitment to advancing the oil and gas industry. His legacy endures through the scholarship created in his name, ensuring that future generations will be inspired by his values and his boundless enthusiasm for the world of oil and gas exploration. Though Chuck may be physically absent, his spirit remains a guiding light for all those who share his vision for the industry's future.
